Delhi is divided by a line between those who have and those who don´t have; a trip here can invoke a strong mix of feelings.

Become enchanted by narrow alleys, beautiful temples and the intermingling of culture and religion in Delhi. In Old Delhi, built by the great mogul Shah Jahan in the 1600s, rickshaws zoom along narrow alleys where mosques and Hindu temples stand side by side. In New Delhi, the dazzling administrative buildings, fountains and boulevards, a legacy of British colonial rule, look as if they are from another world. The capital of India is an exotic destination that provides visitors with a unique experience they are unlikely to forget in a hurry. Take in the exotic smells of the spice stalls, shop in the malls or marvel at the sights – and don’t forget to taste the delicious food.

SIGHTS IN DELHI

  • The Baha'i temple, shaped like an enormous lotus flower, and the temple of the monkey god Hanuman represent religious construction at its best. The three UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Delhi are also a must see: the tomb of Humayun, the Qutub Minar minaret and the Mogul Fortress.
  • Jama Masjid – find India’s largest mosque in Delhi.
  • National Museum – get an insight into India’s history. Among the museum attractions are a large collection of bronze and terracotta sculptures.

  • Swaminarayan Akshardham – the largest Hindu temple in the world contains beautiful sculptures and is situated in fabulous surroundings. Not to be missed.
